WATCH: TOTTENHAM 1-2 LIVERPOOL
OK, we are going to wrap things up for now. Keep an eye out for reaction and the Gary Neville podcast.
You can follow the rest of today's Premier League action here.
Bye for now.
TOTTENHAM 1-2 LIVERPOOL
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp seems happy with the display...
"It was very good. It was a very intense job and the boys did it. It
was a deserved win. Over 85 minutes we were dominant.
"It was the best game of our season so far. The performance was much better than the result."
Jamie Redknapp on Sky Sports: "Tottenham look tired, they look sluggish, it’s a frame of
mind they are in because of the last two results. They need to snap out of it
quickly. There is a bit of negativity around Tottenham and there shouldn’t be."
Mauricio Pochettino says the better team won...
"Yes, of course. They were better, we competed, and we were
close. Disappointed with the result but we need to keep working and
"I am relaxed, I’m not worried. My confidence in these
players is 200 per cent, not 100 per cent, 200 per cent."
He also says he thinks Spurs should have had a late penalty when Mane appeared to clip Son in the box.
It was a difficult game today, and more tough tests lie ahead for Liverpool...
How important is Milner for Liverpool at the moment? Another strong display today.
Souness on Sky Sports: "The
result does not flatter Liverpool, it flatters Spurs. Liverpool were fabulous,
really impressive. The front three
were a real menace.
manager who wants to win the Premier League will be impressed with that
Liverpool performance today."
Robbie Keane on Sky Sports: "It was the same mistakes again from Spurs. Mauricio Pochettino won’t be happy. Against Watford he
was disappointed and that was another poor performance from Spurs. They gave
the ball away way too many times."
Wijnaldum says it was a "plan" to surround Vorm as Liverpool did for the first goal...
"It was a plan. We trained on it before. I thought I would just
head it as high as possible as there was a lot of players in the box. I had a
feeling it was in straight away but then the referee gave it."
Liverpool remain top after winning their opening five games of a top-flight season for the third time in their history.
Spurs are fifth and could fall before the end of the day.
It's all over. Liverpool continue their perfect start to the season and make it five wins from five.
A deserved victory too against a poor Tottenham.
Stay tuned for reaction.
90+5: Nervy moments for Liverpool as Son gets the ball in the box. There are appeals for a penalty as Mane goes to tackle him, but the referee points for a goal-kick.
GOAL! TOTTENHAM 1-2 LIVERPOOL (Lamela 90+3)
Liverpool should be out of sight but Spurs are now just one behind. A corner from the left is flicked on and gets through to Lamela at the back post. He takes his time and then drills a low volley past Alisson.
TOTTENHAM 0-2 LIVERPOOL
Gary Neville on Sky Sports: "Spurs will thank their lucky stars it's only 2-0, this could have been a real mauling."
90+1: Liverpool look as though they are going to win this game but Jurgen Klopp does not look pleased as Mane shoots when he has Wijnaldum running past him in support.
90: Five minutes added on.
90: Final change for Liverpool as Alexander-Arnold is replaced by Matip.
90: The Liverpool fans are loving this.
Milner, who Gary Neville says would be his man of the match, wins a free-kick right in the corner.
88: Liverpool win a couple of free-kick in quick succession and aren't exactly in a rush to take them.
This game is over barring something remarkable from Tottenham.
85: CLOSE! Lamela so nearly gets one back for Spurs. He gets to the edge of the box, has space to shoot, but can fires just wide of the post.
84: Salah is desperate to score. He breaks past a couple of tackles, gets into the box and then shoots when he has a defender right in front of him who blocks it.
Sturridge is angry in the middle and Klopp is furious that Salah didn't pass.
Will these missed chances cost Liverpool?
83: Change for Liverpool as Sturridge comes on for Keita.
Jamie Redknapp on Sky Sports: "This could be four or five and it wouldn't be unjust."
82: SAVE! Another Liverpool chance but again they don't take it as Mane shoots at Vorm from inside the box.
Quite a few of the shots from Liverpool have been too close to Vorm. They really could have scored more with better finishing.
81: SAVE! Liverpool break and Salah curls a left-footed shot for the far corner. Vorm manages to get across and palm it away.
80: Still Spurs are not showing any signs of a comeback. This has been a really sluggish display from the home side, following on from their performance at Watford before the international break.
77: Dier is down after taking a ball to the face. Meanwhile, Pochettino is down in his seat and cutting a frustrated figure.
76: Can Spurs get something going? They really haven't had any periods of sustained pressure.
74: Finally Liverpool do make a change and instead of Keita it's Firmino who makes way for Henderson.
73: As Firmino gets looked at, Spurs make a change with Son coming on for Winks.
71: Liverpool go to make a change and bring off Keita, but they are waiting to see if Firmino is alright after being caught in the face by Vertonghen.
Looked like it was Vertonghen's nail dragging across Firmino's face, maybe around his eye.
69: Lucas Moura is having some joy down the left side. Spurs try to find him with a quick free-kick over the top but the flag goes up for offside.
67: CLOSE! Eriksen fizzes in a cross which is behind Kane and at an awkward height. He tries to backheel it in from eight yards out but can't turn it on target.
66: Liverpool have had 10 shots to four from Tottenham. Eight of those shots from the visitors have been on target. They really could - and probably should - have scored more.
63: SAVE! Big chance for Liverpool to finish the game off.
Mane breaks forward with Salah and Keita in support. Mane keeps going into the box before eventually passing for Keita, who hits a shot that Vorm pushes over the bar.
Not a great finish from Keita and Klopp's expression suggests he thinks Mane should have passed to Salah.
Jamie Redknapp on Sky Sports: "I feel like there's always a plan with Tottenham but today it feels hopeful, it's not the kind of performance that we are used to from Mauricio Pochettino's side."
61: Milner curls in a free-kick from the right that Vorm spills on the floor. He's fortunate that it doesn't roll too far away and he can gather.
60: Spurs make their first change as Lamela comes on for Dembele.
58: Jurgen Klopp had a big smile on his face after the second goal. Tottenham really need a quick response to lift the mood around Wembley.
56: "Vorm made a mess of that," was how Gary Neville summed up the goal.
Long way back for Spurs now.
TOTTENHAM 0-2 LIVERPOOL
Somehow, Vorm let this ball squeeze through his grasp...
GOAL! TOTTENHAM 0-2 LIVERPOOL (Firmino 54)
Liverpool double their lead. It's an easy finish for Firmino after a poor mistake from Vorm.
Mane's low cross is deflected onto the post by Alderweireld. The ball rolls across the line and goes right through Vorm's grasp, leaving Firmino with a tap in from a yard out.
TOTTENHAM 0-1 LIVERPOOL
51: OFF THE POST! Spurs' best moment by far, and it all comes from Lucas Moura.
He cuts in from the left side, taking it past Gomez and then drifting into the box and getting past Alexander-Arnold. He looks to finish in the bottom corner but hits the outside of the post.
50: SAVE! Liverpool threaten again, and again it comes from Spurs losing the ball.
Dembele is the culprit this time and Salah bursts away down the right. He carries inside and then plays into Mane, who swivels and shoots at Vorm from around the penalty spot.
49: OFF THE BAR! Robertson bends in a first-time cross from the left and it so nearly dips in at the back post. It caught Vorm out and hit the top of the bar.
48: Slack from Gomez in possession. He gives it away to Moura and only a good recovery tackle prevents a clear chance.
46: Looks like a tactical change from Tottenham to a back three. Will see if it sticks but Dier is dropping back so far.
No changes at the break and Spurs get the game restarted...
