Veteran equalises after Akinde's opener

Veteran Paul Furlong struck to earn a Barnet a 1-1 draw at Adams Park and dent Wycombe's hopes of automatic promotion. Furlong's leveller was a vital point for the Bees in their bid to beat the drop, but the hosts will see it as two points dropped. Peter Taylor's side had taken the lead with their first real opening after 19 minutes, John Akinde turning Gary Breen inside and out before firing past Jake Cole. The goal was harsh on Barnet and Breen himself came close to an equaliser when his close-range effort was charged down by Wycombe keeper Jamie Young after a corner fell to him. The Bees deservedly drew level three minutes before half-time when Furlong chased a through ball, outmuscled Frank Sinclair and drilled past Young. The game opened up in the second half and after Gary Holt had seen his chip clawed away by Cole, John O'Flynn was denied for Barnet in a goalmouth scramble as the game swung from end to end. Wycombe were denied a winner right at the death when Matt Harrold saw his drive parried by Cole and Holt was unable to turn in the rebound.
