Two goals either side of half-time win the game for Wycombe

Matt Phillips and Jon Paul-Pittman scored either side of the interval as Wycombe notched a 2-0 win to make it 13 games without victory for freefalling Chester. The visitors had the best of the early exchanges but Wycombe keeper Jamie Young was equal to skipper Paul Linwood's back-post header. But the pacy Phillips hit back in the 13th minute, first forcing Chester keeper John Danby, equalling a club record 127th consecutive appearance, into a fine save with his feet. And the 17-year-old got his goal 10 minutes later when he slotted Pittman's low cross home from the penalty spot. Seven-goal midfielder Kevin Ellison wasted a great opportunity to level matters before the break but his looped strike was expertly saved one-handed by Young. And the Chairboys put the game beyond doubt in the 65th minute. Chris Zebroski, returning from a three-match ban, headed a Craig Woodman cross back across goal and Pittman made no mistake from close range to seal only Wycombe's fourth win in 11 games.
