Oxford extended their unbeaten run to six games with a 2-2 draw at Accrington.
United dominated the early possession and took the lead in the 28th minute.
Former Stanley loan player Tariqe Fosu went on a mazy run on the edge of the area and fired low into the bottom corner of the net, his sixth goal of the season.
Jordan Clark levelled for Stanley after 59 minutes when Ross Sykes leapt above goalkeeper Simon Eastwood to meet a Joe Pritchard free-kick and the ball fell for the winger to head into the empty net. It ended a run of five clean sheets for Karl Robinson's men.
Sam Finley hit the post for Stanley two minutes later but Oxford retook the lead after 70 minutes with a wonder goal from Cameron Brannagan who rifled the ball home from 25 yards.
United's lead did not last long as Stanley sub Offrande Zanzala turned 20 yards out and fired home the equaliser three minutes later.
Eastwood pulled off a superb save to keep out a Pritchard strike with five minutes left and Reds keeper Dimi Evtimov saved to deny Matty Taylor at the death.
