Burton 2-1 Luton: Lucas Akins' double keeps Hatters waiting on promotion

Luton’s Sky Bet League One title bid suffered a setback as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at Burton whose goals came from Lucas Akins.
James Collins' 25th goal of the season looked to have set Luton on their way to securing a second successive promotion only for an Akins brace to put the Hatters on course for just a second defeat in 32 League One games.
Luton striker Collins, who enjoyed a productive loan spell with Albion earlier in his career, showed all of his predatory instincts to score from close range when Stephen Bywater could only parry Elliot Lee's angled shot on the half-hour mark.
But Mick Harford's men were pegged back after 62 minutes when Akins netted his 13th of the season, bundling the ball home after John Brayford had headed Stephen Quinn's free-kick back into the six-yard box.
The Brewers striker was at it again after 73 minutes, guiding home a low cross from Brayford to turn the game on its head. Luton threw men forward late on but could not find an equaliser.
