Chesterfield v Carlisle preview

Image: Fleming: Will make his full debut for Chesterfield

Team news for Saturday's League One clash between Chesterfield and Carlisle at the b2net Stadium.

Greg Fleming will make his full debut for Chesterfield. The Scottish goalkeeper, signed on a 12-month deal over the summer, made his first league appearance for the Spireites on Tuesday night as a late substitute when Tommy Lee limped out of the 1-0 home win over Bury. Lee suffered a groin injury and manager John Sheridan believes his number one will be on the sidelines for several weeks. Danny Whitaker had been an ever-present for last season's League Two champions before a back problem forced him to miss out against Bury. However, the midfielder looks to have recovered and is likely to go straight back into Sheridan's side. Forward Dean Morgan is available again after an abductor muscle injury. Carlisle are hopeful of extending James Tavernier's loan deal ahead of the trip to Chesterfield. The Cumbrians are still in discussions with the defender's parent club Newcastle as his initial stay at Brunton Park expired on September 13. Boss Greg Abbott is keen for Tavernier to stay with his squad as first-choice right-back Frank Simek is a long-term absentee with a hip problem. "The situation with James Tavernier will hopefully be resolved soon," Abbott told the club's official website. "James has enjoyed it here, and we have enjoyed having him, but we have to respect Newcastle and their wishes. It's now a case of waiting to see what their plans are for him." Carlisle got back to winning ways in their last game against Tranmere following four successive defeats and Abbott may opt to go with the same starting line-up if Tavernier returns.
