Gillingham v Exeter preview

Arsenal boys make squad for Gills, Tisdale to stick with current team

Play-off hopefuls Gillingham and Exeter will be desperate to try and steal a lead on one another when they meet on Saturday. The clubs are currently tied on 40 points, and a loss for either side would undoubtedly see them fall out of the play-off places. Gillingham manager Mark Stimson though, will be hoping that welcoming back defender Garry Richards and including two new signings in his squad will provide a timely boost ahead of the clash. Richards has completed a three-match ban but could find his way back into the team blocked by Mark Bentley, who has been in superb form in his absence. Stimson has further strengthened his squad with the loan signings of Ipswich winger Jaime Peters and Arsenal left-back Rene Steer, and both will be included - although they may have to settle for places on the bench. Striker Gary Mulligan was forced off at half-time of Tuesday's 3-1 win at Port Vale after suffering a back spasm for the second match running but he has returned to training. Top scorer Simeon Jackson and winger Andy Barcham suffered knocks in the second half at Vale but are fine, and winger Albert Jarrett (ankle) and striker Mark McCammon (back) returned to training on Thursday, although they are unlikely to be ready. Skipper Barry Fuller is out of hospital after suffering from pneumonia but is some time away from a return.

Grecians news

Meanwhile, Exeter boss Paul Tisdale is set to keep faith with a winning line-up as they look to continue chasing down the automatic promotion places. City moved back into the play-off zone with an impressive 2-1 win at Dagenham on Tuesday and with that in mind, Tisdale is unlikely to make any changes to that side at Priestfield. Centre-back Troy Archibald-Henville made his debut as part of a back five at Victoria Road and will keep his place alongside Rob Edwards and Danny Seaborne at the heart of defence, with Dean Moxey and Steve Tully operating as wing-backs. Craig McAllister justified his inclusion in attack with both Exeter goals following his recall in place of Adam Stansfield. The Grecians beat the Gills 3-0 in October when the two sides met for the first time in 12 years.
