Ross County defender Kenny van der Weg has had a change of heart and agreed to extend his stay in the Highlands.

Van der Weg, 26, had turned down the initial terms on offer from County, having moved to Dingwall last summer on a one-year deal, but has now elected to stay for at least another 12 months.

County manager Jim McIntyre said: "Kenny got in touch to say he had had a change of heart and wanted to stay at the club.

"Our position hadn't changed, he's a player that we wanted to stay and we are delighted to welcome him back."

Van der Weg, who played 29 times last season, will join the rest of the squad on a pre-season tour of Spain this week but Craig Curran will miss out having suffered concussion in the weekend match at Elgin.

Meanwhile, County have taken Celtic defender Jamie Lindsay on a season-long loan.
