St Mirren have signed Canadian international forward Simeon Jackson on a short-term deal until January.

The Scottish Premiership side will have the opportunity to extend the 31-year-old's contract until the end of the season if he impresses.

Jackson, who had been on trial at St Mirren, said: "I'm delighted to be here and can't wait to get going. The lads have welcomed me in really well.

"It's happened really quick but it's been good. The manager was a great guy to meet and as soon as I met him I got a good feeling and I'm looking forward to working with him."

St Mirren manager Oran Kearney added: "He fits the bill for what we are needing at this point in time. He's been about the Championship in England for a long time and his pedigree goes before him.

"When he arrives and you see the shape he's kept himself in it's obvious he is a top professional.

"He'll be well liked around the place and he'll be a good influence on everybody around the club."

Jackson had been available on a free transfer since his Walsall contract expired in the summer.

He has nearly a decade of experience of the English Football League, having played for the likes of Blackburn Rovers and Norwich City, as well as spending time in Germany with Eintracht Braunschweig.
