Portugal international striker Ariza Makukula has picked Bolton Wanderers over West Brom.

Portugal international Ariza Makukula has picked Bolton Wanderers over West Bromwich Albion.

The powerful frontman has moved to the Reebok Stadium on loan from Benfica until the end of the season, provided international clearance comes through for the Congolese-born striker.

The 27-year-old is a proven goalgetter who first the caught the eye with 35 goals in 98 appearances in the top two divisions of Spain, and has since represented Portugal on four occasions even scoring on his debut against Kazakhstan in October 2007.

Bolton were not the only team interested in securing his services; West Brom were turned down by the player on Thursday after failing to reach an agreement.

There were no such problems at the Reebok though, and, should everything go to plan, Bolton will have an option to buy the player at the end of the season for £4.5million.
