Slovenian defender Suad Filekovic has claimed to have signed for Championship side Barnsley.
The 31-year-old was a free agent following his release from Maribor in his native Slovenia at the end of last season and began a seven-day trial with the Tykes earlier in the week.
The arrangement is thought to have been set up by former Barnsley manager Simon Davey but Filekovic, who has 11 caps for Slovenia, insists the move will still go through under new boss Mark Robins.
The former Hajduk Split man insists he has signed a contract until January when the situation will be assessed and the club will decide whether to offer the player a long-term contract.
"I'm still speechless, as everything went so quickly and smoothly," Filekovic told
Sportal.
"I'm more than satisfied with the contract. Because of the new coach we made a decision that I will for now stay until January and then we will see.
Good feeling
"I have a very good feeling and on Saturday I will play my first game against Swansea.
"It is just unbelievable. Days ago I was just training and waiting for a new club and now I will play in England every Saturday and Tuesday."
Filekovic revealed that he was advised to join the Yorkshire club by former Barnsley player Ales Krizan and admitted to already knowing Tykes forward Daniel Bogdanovic.
"My first feelings are great," he added. "I already know Daniel Bogdanovic, as his mother is from Maribor, where I played for a long time, and also Ales Krizan, the former Barnsley player told me great things about this club."
