Jurgen Klopp has told Xherdan Shaqiri that "his time will come" as the winger awaits his first Liverpool start.
The 26-year-old joined the Reds from Stoke for £13.5m in the summer, but has so far been restricted to just three substitute appearances.
Ahead of Saturday's home match against Southampton, Klopp praised Shaqiri for the attitude he has shown as he waits for his chance.
"He is very positive. It's not only from the performances but also as a guy in the dressing room," Klopp said.
"Everyone loves Shaq, that's how it is, without playing plenty of minutes and that is more my mistake than his.
"He has done everything to play, to be honest. I made different decisions but his time will come, that's for sure."
Victory at Anfield will see Liverpool go top of the Premier League with Chelsea not playing until Sunday when they travel to London rivals West Ham, live on Sky Sports Main Event HD and Sky Sports Premier League HD.
