Real Madrid's impending transfer ban will not mean David de Gea leaving Manchester United this month, according to Louis van Gaal.

De Gea signed a new United deal shortly after a proposed move to the Bernabeu collapsed in the final few minutes of the summer transfer window.

The goalkeeper has since said he is happy at Old Trafford, but FIFA's decision to impose a transfer embargo on Real means the current window is their last opportunity to buy players before the summer of 2017.

Asked whether the ban might accelerate a renewed Real bid for De Gea, Van Gaal said: "I don't know, because I don't think that kind of thing plays in the mind of David de Gea and I have never thought that.

"Now I am seeing David De Gea who is enjoying being here at Manchester United and playing good games."
