Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a doubt for the Manchester derby after he injured his knee while on international duty.
Mkhitaryan hurt his knee in an off-the-ball collision with Marek Suchy during the first half of Armenia's friendly with the Czech Republic and was taken off as a result.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will be hoping the 27-year-old, who joined from Borussia Dortmund on a four-year contract in July, was substituted as a precaution ahead of Armenia's World Cup qualifier with Denmark at the weekend.
Mkhitaryan has been described as a "fantastic talent" by Mourinho and the former Chelsea boss now faces an anxious update on his £26.3m signing ahead of the derby clash with Pep Guardiola's City at Old Trafford on September 10, live on Sky Sports.
Mourinho, who has allowed striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic extra-time off, voiced concerns about the international break earlier this week.
"We keep eight outfield players and Sam Johnstone as the goalkeeper," Mourinho told MUTV.
"We are going to lose the others and we don't know the way they train, the way they recover, the life they are going to have with their national teams."
Meanwhile, City are to respond to Sergio Aguero's violent conduct charge on Thursday, as Pep Guardiola faces a nervous wait to find out if the Argentina international is available to face Manchester United.
