Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard returns to Anfield

Days after announcing his retirement from playing football, Steven Gerrard was back in familiar surroundings at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Former Reds captain Gerrard returned to his old stamping ground to watch Liverpool's Premier League clash with Sunderland.
Gerrard, who made 700 appearances for Liverpool before joining LA Galaxy last year, turned down the chance to manage League One side MK Dons last week as speculation persists linking the 36-year-old with a return to Liverpool in a coaching capacity.
Gerrard took his seat in the directors' box alongside fellow former Reds Robbie Fowler and John Barnes as Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League with a 2-0 win over David Moyes' Sunderland.
Liverpool's victory was marred by a first-half ankle injury to playmaker Philippe Coutinho, which resulted in the Brazil international being stretchered off.
"It is an ankle injury but we can't say any more until we see a scan," Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said after the victory.
