The EFL has given Laurence Bassini an extra 48 hours to complete his takeover of Bolton Wanderers.

The Football League's governing body says it still requires some information from the former Watford owner before it approves the change of ownership.

Bassini previously said he was meeting EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey on Tuesday to prove he had the required funds to complete his planned takeover of the club.

An EFL spokesman said on Tuesday evening: "The EFL's chief executive has tonight met with Laurence Bassini regarding a possible change of control at Bolton Wanderers.

"The EFL has not received all the information it requires and Mr Bassini has committed to return with the relevant details in the next 48 hours."

Bolton's players boycotted their match with Brentford at the weekend after not receiving their April wages from current owner Ken Anderson.

Bolton play Nottingham Forest on Sunday in what was supposed to be their final game of the normal Championship season and Forest expect that game to go ahead as planned.
