Bolton's rearranged Championship game against Brentford has been scrapped with the Bees awarded a 1-0 win and three points.

The decision comes after the club's Safety Advisory Group (SAG) issued a Prohibition Notice preventing the rearranged fixture from taking place amid concerns they were unable to confirm adequate personnel to guarantee the ground's general safety certificate.

The encounter, originally scheduled for Saturday April 27, was postponed when Bolton's players refused to play after not receiving their April wages from current owner Anderson.

EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey believes it was the correct decision to call off Bolton’s game with Brentford

It is understood the PFA stepped in to make loan payments to ensure the fixture could be fulfilled - along with Bolton's final Championship encounter away to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

But having considered SAG's ruling, the EFL have now stated they will not be asking the game is played at a future date with Bolton deemed to be guilty of misconduct by not honouring the fixture.

In a statement issued today, the EFL added: "There is no provision under EFL Regulations to direct Clubs to play at a later date than four days past the conclusion of the season and, as a result, it has been determined Brentford will be awarded the three points on the basis of a 1-0 victory.

"As a consequence, Bolton Wanderers is now deemed to be guilty of misconduct by the EFL which will result in disciplinary proceedings against the Club being taken at an appropriate time.

"The decision to award the victory to Brentford is taken under Regulation 33.2 and is independent of the proceedings referred to above."

The latest development comes amid claim and counter-claim over the ownership of the club - potential new owner Laurence Bassini claiming he is now in 'full control' despite the club's insistence his potential takeover is off.
