Reading have completed the signing of experienced forward Yann Kermorgant from Bournemouth and he has signed a contract which runs until the summer of 2017.

The 34-year-old former Leicester and Charlton man has made seven Premier League appearances this season for the Cherries but all of them came from the bench.

He has now joined the Royals for an undisclosed fee and the Championship club's manager Brian McDermott thinks he will be a huge asset.

"I'm delighted to get Yann," said McDermott. "A player we have known about for a long time.

"In Yann we have an experienced striker with an excellent record, a player who will be able to work with our young players at the club and be a good centre-forward in the team we are trying to develop here at Reading.

"I am really looking forward to working with him."

Reading are having a busy week in the transfer marker - midfielder George Evans having joined from Manchester City on Tuesday.

Chief Executive Nigel Howe said, "We are absolutely delighted to have fought off the interest of a number of other clubs to secure the services of striker Yann Kermorgant.

"He brings both a wealth of experience and an impressive goalscoring record to Reading Football Club and we look forward to welcoming him into our squad here at Madejski Stadium."

Kermorgant began his career with Reims in his native France, going on to spend time at Leicester and Arles-Avignon before joining Charlton in 2011.
