Reading part company with sporting director Gianluca Nani

Championship club Reading have announced that sporting director Gianluca Nani has left by mutual consent.

The move follows Reading's decision to sack manager Paul Clement on Thursday after just nine months in charge.

Reading are 21st in the Championship and are only outside the relegation zone on goal difference.

Nani - who only took up his post in September - said: "As the club is now moving in a different direction, I believe it is the right time for me to step away from the role.

"Even though it was only for a short time, I really appreciated my time at Reading Football Club.

"I met lovely people and great fans, who have supported us through a difficult period.
