Aston Villa make loan offer for Burnley's Ben Gibson

Aston Villa have made an offer to Burnley to sign defender Ben Gibson on loan with a view to a permanent deal, according to Sky sources.

Sky Sports News understands the original offer is or a temporary deal but Villa want to include a clause which would make the move permanent at the end of the season.

Gibson signed for Burnley in a £12m deal from Middlesbrough last summer but has only made one Premier League appearance since.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche admits it is difficult for the club to do transfer business in the January window

The club's chief executive Christian Purslow has spoken publicly of his reluctance to take players on loan, only for them to then return to their parent club.
