Jonjo Shelvey looks set to be available for Championship leaders Newcastle when they host Blackburn on Saturday.

No date has yet been set for a disciplinary hearing after Shelvey contested a Football Association charge of racially abusing a Wolves player during a match in September.

A win for Rafael Benitez's side would break the record of nine straight wins set by Kevin Keegan's side across the 1993/94 and 1994/95 seasons.

Winger Rolando Aarons is likely to be absent for the rest of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in training earlier this month.

Blackburn expect to have Marvin Emnes available.

The striker sat out the win over Brentford last time out because of a hamstring strain but was back in full training on Thursday.

He is the only absentee set to return for boss Owen Coyle, with Gordon Greer (leg), Danny Guthrie (knock), Tommie Hoban (shoulder), Adam Henley (hamstring) and Elliott Ward (ankle) still out.

Greer and Guthrie are the closest to a comeback, which may come next week, though neither are training with the main group yet.
