Bournemouth have signed Republic of Ireland international midfielder Marc Wilson from Stoke City for £2m.

The 28-year-old returns to Dean Court, where he spent two spells on loan in 2007, having been with Stoke for six seasons.

Wilson made 27 appearances during those loan spells and has 177 Premier League outings to his name, as well as 24 international caps.

"We're pleased to bring Marc back to the club," chief executive Neill Blake said.

"He'll add a wealth of experience to Eddie's defensive options, having played in the top flight and internationally.

"It's yet more competition for places which will help the squad thrive in our second season in the Premier League."

Wilson is Bournemouth's seventh new addition during the summer transfer window, following the acquisitions of Emerson Hyndman, Nathan Ake, Lys Mousset, Lewis Cook, Jordon Ibe and Brad Smith.
