Rangers have agreed a fee with Brighton in the region of £3m for defender Connor Goldson, according to Sky sources.
It is understood that personal terms are still to be agreed and a medical still needs to take place.
The 25-year-old was a regular for Brighton in the Sky Bet Championship as they attempted to seal promotion to the Premier League but he had preventative surgery in February 2017 after the club identified a potential heart problem.
He made eight appearances for Brighton last season, with three of those coming in the Premier League.
Goldson started his career at Shrewsbury Town before joining the Seagulls in 2015.
Sky Sports News also understands that Rangers are close to agreeing a season-long loan deal for Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria. The deal should be completed next week.
The 20-year old has made eight appearances for Jurgen Klopp's side but was sent out to spend part of the 2017/18 season on loan at Sunderland.
He was part of the England squad that won the U20 World Cup last year in South Korea.
