Nashville will join the MLS in 2020 but are subject to MLS transfer rules and with Gutman's MLS rights held by Chicago Fire after he came through their youth system, he cannot play for Nashville at this time.

"This past week, Nashville Soccer Club had announced its intention to take defender Andrew Gutman on loan from Celtic FC," read an official statement from Nashville.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says midfielder Tomas Rogic is out for up to six weeks with a knee injury.

"However, as an expansion member of MLS, and in light of the fact that MLS does not support the transaction, Nashville will not be proceeding with the loan.
