Celtic captain Scott Brown has had his Scottish Football Association disciplinary hearing moved forward six days at the club's request.

The change of date means Brown could potentially be available for the final Old Firm game of the season, depending on the length of any ban if the charge against him is upheld.

Brown was accused of breaching a rule which states players must "act in the best interests of association football" over his celebrations at the end of Celtic's 2-1 win on March 31.

His case had initially been scheduled for May 2, just 10 days before Celtic travel to Ibrox in their penultimate Scottish Premiership game of the season.

The change of date to April 26 means Brown would need to be handed a three-game ban to miss that Glasgow derby, as the club plays Kilmarnock and Aberdeen before heading to Ibrox.

Celtic's last meeting with Rangers saw Alfredo Morelos shown a red card and team-mate Ryan Kent hit with a retrospective two-game ban for striking Brown.

Brown clashed with Rangers defender Andy Halliday after the Celtic players' celebrations, with other members of each team and stewards also becoming involved in the melee.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard also accepted a one-game touchline ban relating to comments he made to match referee Bobby Madden.

Both clubs were also charged with failing to control their players during the game and those hearings are still set to take place on May 2.
