Neymar has targeted May 17 for a return to training and vowed to work harder than ever to be ready for the World Cup

The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) has denied reports in France that Paris-Saint Germain's Neymar has a €300 million (£264m) release clause in his contract.

Neymar, who moved to Paris for a world-record €222m fee from Barcelona in August, has continually been linked with a move to Real Madrid amid rumours he is unhappy in the French capital.

The Brazilian, who is currently injured and faces a race for fitness before this summer's World Cup in Russia, is also thought to be a summer target for Premier League duo Manchester United and Manchester City.

"Neymar's contract is unable to contain such a clause," The LFP told L'Equipe. "There is no such clause in the player's contract, which was approved by the LFP's legal committee.

"The LFP issues a clear reminder about article 202 of its rulebook. Clubs are not allowed to sign contracts that contain release clauses that enable the agreement between both parties to be unilaterally terminated."

Neymar has scored 28 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions, including six goals in seven Champions League games, before Paris' round-of-16 exit to Zinedine Zidane's side.
