Jurgen Klopp says his Liverpool players will try to deal with the 'emotional' crowd at Napoli on Wednesday

Jurgen Klopp believes Napoli's fans could make a difference in their Champions League tie, but has urged his Liverpool players to nullify the "emotional" crowd.

Liverpool face the Serie A side on Wednesday in the Stadio San Paolo, which is famous for its hostile atmosphere.

Klopp's side are looking to continue their perfect start to this year's European campaign, having beaten French champions Paris Saint-Germain at home in their opening Group C tie.

Carlo Ancelotti's Napoli have won all four of their home matches so far this season and Klopp knows they offer another stern test of his side's progress.

When asked if the home crowd could help reduce any possible gap between the two sides, Klopp said: "If there was a gap then it always helps. I don't see a gap between Napoli and us.

"If the mix is good between the football you play and the atmosphere in the stadium then it is always a benefit.

"On the other hand, it is not that a team can't perform in a very emotional stadium as an away team. Teams are doing that at Anfield.

"We will try to do that tomorrow here as well but we are aware of the emotions in the stadium and we will try to bring ours because this tournament is very important for us.

"I like Carlo Ancelotti, I respect him a lot and he is a fantastic guy and a world-class manager. He is obviously a smart fox.

"Over the last few weeks we have performed on a consistent level but tomorrow we need to step-up."
