Oxford boss Karl Robinson drafted former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright into training on Monday to help his misfiring strikers.
The Us are on a terrible run in League One of three defeats in their last four games including Saturday's 2-1 loss at AFC Wimbledon.
Robinson, who had Wright on his coaching staff at MK Dons for a time, said after the defeat that he would "get people in who can help" including, potentially, a psychologist.
He said on Monday: "We were talking and we said maybe to try something outside the box, and for him to come in and just give us a different thought process.
"Nobody has all the answers so it's good to get a different view on things. So he came in, went through a few clips and I know he spoke with the strikers about their role in the team."
Wright posted a picture of himself on the training ground on Instagram with the caption: "Great morning to be out watching the Oxford United training session. All the best with your match against Luton tomorrow."
Robinson, who was appointed head coach of Oxford in March and secured a 16th-place finish, has also hinted previously that he will bring in Robbie Fowler for a session or two.
