Team news

St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin expects to have an unchanged squad for Sunday's Premiership encounter with Aberdeen.

Charles Dunne (hamstring) and Greg Kiltie (knee) remain on the sidelines, but both are described by the manager as "making great progress" in their comeback bids.

Defender Dunne should be back after the next international break, with attacker Kiltie due to return in late October.

Ryan Hedges is set to return from a hamstring injury for Aberdeen with manager Stephen Glass weighing up whether to start the Welshman or bring him off the bench.

Fellow attacker Marley Watkins remains out with his own hamstring injury. Andy Considine is a long-term absentee following knee surgery.

Opta stats

  • St. Mirren are unbeaten in three home league games against Aberdeen (W1 D2); they had lost three such meetings in a row before this.
  • Aberdeen have only lost one of their last 22 league meetings with St. Mirren (W9 D12), a 1-0 defeat in August 2019.
  • St. Mirren have drawn each of their last three league matches. Indeed, the Buddies have drawn half of their 26 Scottish Premiership fixtures in 2021 (13), at least four more than any other side this calendar year.
  • Aberdeen have lost both of their last two league games, last losing three on the bounce in May 2016.
  • With his goal against Hibernian last time out, St. Mirren's Joe Shaughnessy has already scored more goals in six Scottish Premiership games this season (2) than he netted in 33 such appearances in 2020-21 (1).

Highlights of the Scottish Premiership match between Dundee United and Dundee.

Team news

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has eight players out for Sunday's Premiership clash with Dundee United - most of them attackers.

Giorgos Giakoumakis (calf), Mikey Johnston (niggle), Karamoko Dembele (ankle), James Forrest (unspecified) and Kyogo Furuhashi (knee) are all missing from the forward ranks.

Defenders Greg Taylor (shoulder) and Christopher Jullien (knee) are also missing along with midfielder Callum McGregor (hamstring).

Former Celtic midfielder Stiliyan Petrov says he is not surprised by the side's struggles under new manager Ange Postecoglou and thinks they will take time to gel.

Dundee United boss Tam Courts is set to be without his main striker after Marc McNulty suffered a hamstring injury in the Premier Sports Cup quarter final defeat by Hibernian.

The Tannadice manager is also sweating on the fitness of Charlie Mulgrew after he went off with muscle tightness on Thursday, although he is hopeful that the veteran defender was substituted before any significant damage was done.

Courts has a decision to make over which goalkeeper to start after alternating between Benjamin Siegrist and Trevor Carson in recent games, while defender Liam Smith is battling to shake off the knock that has kept him out of the last two matches.

Opta stats

  • Celtic have only lost one of their last 18 league meetings with Dundee United (W14 D3), winning seven of their last eight against them (D1) since a 1-2 loss in December 2014 under Ronny Deila.
  • Dundee United have lost 10 of their last 11 away league visits to Celtic, drawing the other 1-1 in November 2013. They have conceded 42 goals while scoring just eight themselves in those 11 trips.
  • Celtic have lost half of their six league games so far this season (W3); however, all of those defeats have come away from home, with the Bhoys winning eight of their last nine league matches at Celtic Park (D1).
  • Dundee United have kept a clean sheet in four of their last five league games (W3 D1 L1), including both of their last two. However, away from home, they have failed to score themselves in four of their last five Scottish Premiership outings (W1 D2 L2).
  • While Celtic have racked up the Scottish Premiership's highest shot count (134) and expected goals tally (19.7) this season, they have the division's poorest negative xG difference, scoring 16 goals from their 19.7 xG (-3.7).

Highlights of the Scottish Premiership match between Aberdeen and St Johnstone.

Team news

Hibernian head coach Jack Ross hopes to have an unchanged squad for the visit of St Johnstone.

With James Scott having returned to the squad for the midweek win over Dundee United after a bout of illness, that would mean everyone being available except the club's four long-term absentees.

Jamie Murphy (hamstring), Sean Mackie (foot), Christian Doidge (Achilles) and Melker Hallberg (knee) all face at least several more weeks on the sidelines.

Saints are likely to be without defender James Brown after the defender tweaked his hamstring during Wednesday's win at Dundee.

Murray Davidson (back) remains doubtful after missing the Dens Park trip. Cammy MacPherson (shoulder), Liam Gordon (knee) and Craig Bryson (knee) are all still sidelined by injury.

Opta stats

  • Hibernian have lost both of their last two league meetings with St. Johnstone, each by a 1-0 scoreline. They had only lost two of their previous 10 league games against them before this (W3 D5).
  • St. Johnstone are unbeaten in seven away league games against Hibernian (W4 D3) since a 2-0 defeat in August 2012 under Steve Lomas.
  • Hibernian are unbeaten in eight league games (W4 D4), the longest ongoing run in the Scottish Premiership by any side.
  • St. Johnstone have only lost one of their last eight away league matches (W4 D3), while they are the only side yet to concede an goal away from home in this season's Scottish Premiership.
  • No side has scored fewer goals in this season's Scottish Premiership so far than St. Johnstone (three, level with Dundee United and Livingston), with the Saints also suffering from the league's poorest shot conversion rate (4.5% - three goals from 66 shots).
