Antoni Sarcevic will again be missing from the Plymouth squad to face Southend.
The midfielder was absent from the side beaten 2-1 at Walsall on the opening day of the season due to an ankle injury. Sarcevic has begun light training and is expected to return to full training next week.
Boss Derek Adams has no new injury worries and will choose from an unchanged squad for Argyle’s first home match of the season.
Southend defender Harry Lennon suffered a fractured big toe during last Saturday’s 3-2 defeat by Doncaster. The summer signing from Charlton picked up the injury early in the second half but completed the full 90 minutes.
John White is likely to step in at centre-half at Home Park. Sam Barratt and Timothee Dieng overcame pre-season injuries to come on as substitutes against Rovers and should be involved again.
Plymouth are unbeaten in their last five league meetings with Southend, winning two and drawing three.
Southend haven't won away at Plymouth in the league since recording three straight wins there between 1992 and 1999.
Plymouth have won 12 of their last 14 home league games (D1 L1), unbeaten in their last eight in a row at Home Park (W7 D1).

Southend are looking to secure three consecutive away league wins for the first time since April 2015.
