Rotherham moved into the play-off spots thanks to a 1-0 win over Accrington.
With most of their top-half rivals without a fixture, the Millers, even with 10 men, took advantage and moved from mid-table into sixth with a hard-earned victory.
Carlton Morris' early effort forced Accrington goalkeeper Dimitar Evtimov into action before Chiedozie Ogbene's curler was just wide of the far post as Rotherham started the better side.
The home side took the lead in the 30th minute with Morris rising above the Accrington defence to power in Ben Wiles' free-kick.
The lively Morris almost doubled Rotherham's advantage before the break but his effort curled just wide.
Accrington started to enjoy more possession in the second half and substitute Sean McConville almost nipped in to head the leveller at the near post.
Rotherham's response saw Wiles fire a stinging effort from the edge of the box, which Evtimov saved.
Ogbene was given his marching orders in the 82nd minute for his second yellow card following a dive and the weakened Rotherham had to see out a late onslaught to claim the three points.
