Veteran full-back out to earn long-term deal
Burton Albion have snapped up veteran full-back Marc Edworthy on an initial month-long contract.
Edworthy, who played alongside Burton boss Paul Peschisolido at Derby County, has joined the Football League new boys after being released by Leicester City.
The 36-year-old could make his debut in Saturday's season opener against Shrewsbury Town and is hoping to earn a longer deal with the Brewers.
"I am hoping it will be for longer, but I have agreed to come for a month initially to get me into the club and I am really pleased with the setup here," Edworthy told the club's official website.
"Having played with the manager at Derby I know how committed and passionate he is."
Peschisolido is also keen for Edworthy to prove he merits a more permanent deal and believes he will be a valuable addition to his squad.
"I have worked with 'Eddy' and he is a great lad to have in the dressing room," said Peschisolido.
"He is an experienced pro who will never let you down. He has joined us initially for a month, but hopefully we will be able to make it longer after that."
