Cologne do not want Sporting Lisbon striker Yannick Djalo and do not expect to sign AC Milan midfielder Stephan El Shaarawy on loan.

Djalo not a target; El Shaarawy loan not a 'short-term' option

Cologne have ruled out their interest in Sporting Lisbon striker Yannick Djalo and do not expect to sign AC Milan midfielder Stephan El Shaarawy on loan.

The Bundesliga club have been linked with both players during January ahead of an attempt to push into the top half of the table in the second half of the season.

But Cologne general manager Volker Finke insists Djalo is not a transfer target of the club's boss, Stale Solbakken.

Finke told spox.com: "We will not be moving for Yannick Djalo. Yannick Djalo is not the sort of striker our manager is looking for."

Asked about El Shaarawy, Finke doubted whether Milan would be prepared to allow the Italy Under 21 international to leave any time in the immediate future.

He said: "A transfer is nothing we can work out in any short-term aspect."
