Kenny Miller says Alex McLeish is a "fighter and a winner" and he fully expects Scotland to beat Israel at Hampden Park on Tuesday.
The UEFA Nations League match, live on Sky Sports Main Event, has become a winner-takes-all-clash which could determine Scotland's short-term future.
Their 4-0 win over Albania on Sunday means another victory will earn McLeish's side promotion to League B and they will qualify for the Euro 2020 play-offs.
Miller, who made 69 appearances for Scotland, is in no doubt that McLeish's side can beat Israel, who will secure promotion at Scotland's expense if they win or draw.
"Getting the result will give us the first opportunity to reach the Euros, we're three games away, this is the most important game as it is the next game," Miller told Sky Sports News.
"We're within touching distance. We've got a home game against Israel to get ourselves to the next stage.
"If they perform the way they did on Saturday, with the same energy, then I fully expect them to win the game and maybe win comfortably tonight.
"I really like the personnel that are playing. Whether it be a three or a four at the back I really like the players that we've got, particularly in the middle and front areas.
"A problem position for us has always been the centre-backs but we seem to have a good young crop of them coming through as well.
"They're only going to get better with experience so I'm really hoping the team can perform tonight and get the result.
"Alex is a fighter, he's a winner, that's something he's always been. I've known him for a long, long time.
"He'll be working tirelessly with his staff and his players to make sure we give ourselves the best possible opportunity to make the Euros".
