Huddersfield's on-loan defender Terence Kongolo looks to have made his last appearance for the club.

The Terriers signed the 24-year-old from Monaco in January on loan for the rest of the season and he played a key role in their successful season back in the top flight.

Town fans had been hoping the Netherlands defender would extend his stay in England after helping them secure Premier League football for another season but he now looks set to return to France.

Kongolo posted on his Instagram account: "Thanks to all of you for having me at this great club.

"I'll always remember the support you gave me, I wish you all the best of luck next season and know for sure Huddersfield will always remain in the PL. Love the song you guys sang for me, the best I heard at least."

Kongolo, a central defender who finished the season as Town's left-back, arrived at the John Smith's Stadium during the January transfer window on a loan deal until June 30, 2018.

He joined Monaco the previous summer after their Ligue 1 title win from Feyenoord in a reported £13.4m deal and made six appearances for the French club.
