Stoke City striker Peter Crouch is hoping to move a step closer to achieving his target of 100 Premier League goals by scoring yet again against Arsenal on Sunday.
The former England international currently has 92 top-flight goals to his name heading into the Super Sunday clash at the Emirates.
And Crouch thinks he can reach the century landmark this year.
“There is one thing that I would really enjoy and that is of course to get 100 Premier League goals,” Crouch said. “I make no excuse for that. All the players that have done it in the past are idols of mine.
“I often watch it on Sky Sports when they do the 100-club, and see some of the goals and the players who have achieved it. And it is certainly a milestone that I would like to achieve.
“I believe I will do it, and hopefully this year.”
Crouch, 33, will be confident of adding to his already impressive haul of Premier League strikes when he lines up in attack against the Gunners on Sunday afternoon, especially given his excellent scoring record against the north Londoners.
“For whatever reason I have got a few goals against Arsenal, so I do enjoy playing against them,” added Crouch, who opened the scoring after just 19 seconds when the two sides met at the Britannia Stadium in December.
“The last game was fantastic, getting that early goal obviously set us off nicely on the way to getting a good result,” he said of the Potters’ 3-2 win before Christmas.
“There was an amazing atmosphere in the first half after our performance, our tails were up after the first goal and we managed to go and then get three.”
