Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants them to replicate their midweek display against Watford when they face Everton this weekend.

Jurgen Klopp is hopeful Roberto Firmino will be fit to face Everton in this Sunday's Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

Firmino sustained an ankle injury during last weekend's draw with Manchester United and had to miss the midweek win over Watford.

But Klopp said on Friday: "He was out there running yesterday, so we have to see how he reacts.

"He is very positive, but it is Bobby's nature as well, so we have to see.

"I don't see any other player - OK, maybe we have two or three - who would even be in contention after the problem he had.

"It looks really good but, if he will be ready for Sunday, I don't know."

But Klopp dismissed the notion that the move was any sort of reprisal for Henderson's reaction to being substituted at Old Trafford last week, when the midfielder appeared to be unhappy at the decision.

Asked if players were angry when left out of the starting line-up, Klopp said: "They accept it, I don't think they are happy.

"The most important thing is how will it (the team) fit [together] for the next opponent - and if more things than one could fit, then maybe you think about who needs a rest, or whatever.

"Hendo has played a really good season. He looked like he was not happy (at Old Trafford), but [he was] completely OK.

"I don't tell players before the game that they will not play. I don't walk through the dressing room and say 'You don't play, you don't play'.

"As a player of Liverpool, you know that you don't play all the games. It's a normal situation.

"But because of the stories after the United game, after my reaction, I thought it made sense to tell [Jordan] it has nothing to do with that, because it was nothing. That's it."
