West Ham have rejected an offer from Dutch club Heerenveen to take Reece Oxford on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old is yet to play a game for West Ham this season, with his last appearance for the club coming in October 2016.

A number of clubs have reportedly shown an interest in Oxford, whose contract with the Hammers runs until June 2021.

According to Sky sources, Nottingham Forest and Eintracht Frankfurt were in talks to sign him, but Sky Sports News has been told: "He [Oxford] is now prepared to see out his contract until 2021 because of the politics surrounding the player and the way he has been portrayed".

Oxford already has experience of the German top flight having spent most of the past season on loan to Borussia Monchengladbach, for whom he made seven appearances.
