Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva were among those to pay tribute to Vincent Kompany after the Belgian called time on his career at the club.
Kompany helped City to 10 trophies, including this year's domestic treble, during 11 years and 360 games at the club.
The 33-year-old has been appointed as player-manager of Belgian side Anderlecht, a club he joined at the age of six.
Fellow Belgian De Bruyne wrote on Twitter: "Playing for about 10 years with this man for club and country. And what a privilege it's been.
"Big player, big personality and big leader. Learned a lot from you. Wishing you all the best for the future."
Midfielder Bernardo Silva also tweeted: "THANK YOU CAPTAIN! What a pleasure to share the dressing room and learn from you over the last 2 seasons. We'll miss you."
Labeled a 'legend' on Twitter by team-mate David Silva, Kompany signed off his City career with a second FA Cup trophy on Saturday, where City thrashed Watford 6-0 to complete the treble.
Meanwhile Foden, 18, said Kompany had "looked after him from day one" while Gabriel Jesus, who started alongside Kompany in Saturday's FA Cup final victory also mentioned how much the Belgian had taught him since arriving at the Etihad back in January 2017.
Former City midfielder Yaya Toure also took to Twitter: "My brother Vinny!! It was an honour to share the pitch with you at City! Memories I will cherish. Trophies! Titles!! Making a plan a reality! You are a special man!! A leader. My friend."
Like Toure, Sergio Aguero is another player who has had tremendous success alongside Kompany with City's record goalscorer adding: "We shared 8 years growing in this club. It was my pleasure to share this time together. All the best in this new stage.
Kompany scored 20 goals during his 360 games, and won four Premier League titles, and even those from other clubs praised the centre-back, including former Manchester United defender Gary Neville, ex-Liverpool striker Michael Owen and Gary Lineker.
Neville admitted he wished Kompany had played for his club and said his influence on and off the pitch was "huge".
Lifelong City fan Liam Gallagher also wrote: "Thank you Vincent Kompany for everything good luck see ya soon LG x".
And Belgium boss Roberto Martinez not only believes Kompany has what it takes to become a successful manager but also believes the player still has much to offer on the international scene as well - starting with next month's Euro 2020 qualifiers.
"He has always shown the qualities needed to take into management and I have no doubt the next chapter will be a success for him," Roberto Martinez said.
"As Belgium Football Federation, we always support our players in their new challenges as their careers evolve.
"Like every member of the Red Devils, he will be judged on his form for participation in the national team and we are looking forward to working with him for the June qualifiers after his impressive form finishing the campaign with Manchester City".
