Wolves forward Pedro Neto will miss the rest of the Premier League season after sustaining a knee injury, while midfielder Ruben Neves has tested positive for coronavirus.

Neto was withdrawn in the first half of Wolves' 1-0 win at Fulham on Friday night and will undergo surgery later this week.

The news means the 21-year-old Portugal international could miss this summer's European Championship.

A club statement read: "Pedro Neto suffered a significant injury to his patella (knee cap) during the match against Fulham and, following a review with a knee specialist in London at the weekend, surgery has been planned for later this week.

"Unfortunately, he is not expected to return to play until next season."

Neto has made 35 appearances in all competitions for Wolves this season, scoring five goals and registering five assists.

Wolves have been dealt a further blow after Neto's club and international team-mate Neves tested positive for coronavirus.

Neves is one of two positive cases in the latest round of coronavirus testing in the Premier League, with the other player or member of staff unconfirmed.

On Neves, the statement added: "Ruben Neves has tested positive for Covid-19 and is self-isolating in line with government guidance."

Wolves face Sheffield United at Molineux in the Premier League on Saturday, live on Sky Sports, before facing Burnley at home on Sunday, April 25.
