Team news

Everton will be without Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Alex Iwobi for the visit for Newcastle.

Richarlison missed Saturday's draw at West Ham with a knee complaint while Sigurdsson has a groin injury. Iwobi has a hamstring strain and is close to a return, but Tuesday's game will come too soon.

Michael Keane's neck problem will be assessed ahead of the game, with long-term absentees Andre Gomes and Jean-Philippe Gbamin remaining out.

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce has confirmed that injuries have ruled out Jetro Willems and Paul Dummett for the rest of the season.

The 25-year-old, who is on loan at St James' Park from Eintracht Frankfurt, ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during Saturday night's 1-0 win over Chelsea, and he has been joined on the long-term casualty list by fellow defender Paul Dummett, who may need surgery to repair a tendon.

Defenders Jamaal Lascelles and Matt Ritchie, midfielder Jonjo Shelvey and striker Allan Saint-Maximin all came through the weekend victory unscathed on their returns from injury, but wing-back DeAndre Yedlin (knee), midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng (knock) and frontmen Andy Carroll (hip) and Yoshinori Muto (knock) continue to fight their way back to fitness and Javier Manquillo and Dwight Gayle (both hamstring) are still out.

  • Everton have lost just one of their last 15 home league games against Newcastle (W10 D4), going down 0-1 in September 2010.
  • Everton are unbeaten in their last four home league games (W3 D1), keeping a clean sheet in each of their last three.
  • Away from home, Newcastle have won two of their last three evening kick-offs in the Premier League (7pm or later), more than they had in their previous 21 such games in the competition (W1 D6 L14).
  • Newcastle have won just three of their last 31 Premier League away games against the six ever-present sides (D3 L25), with all three of those victories coming against Spurs.
  • Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has never lost a home Premier League game against a team starting the day in the bottom-half on 19 previous occasions (W15 D4) - two of those winless games were against the Toffees, while one was against Newcastle in May 2011 as Chelsea manager.

  • Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has scored six of Everton's last nine Premier League goals; Calvert-Lewin has nine Premier League goals this season and could become only the second Englishman in the last 13 seasons to score 10 league goals in a season for Everton, along with Wayne Rooney in 2017-18.
  • Newcastle manager Steve Bruce inflicted Carlo Ancelotti's heaviest home defeat of his entire managerial career in November 2010, winning 3-0 with Sunderland at Chelsea - however, the Italian has won his other four games against Bruce.

A look at some of the key-facts ahead of match-week 24, which includes Chelsea's clash with Arsenal and Manchester City's trip to Bramall Lane

There have been a few games where Newcastle have not turned up. Has Steve Bruce done a better job than Rafa Benitez? I have said yes numerous times. Are they scoring more goals? Probably not, but he is getting a tune out of Miguel Almiron, while Joelinton looked like a proper centre forward at the weekend. His form has been average to say the least but he keeps getting there.

I thought Everton were fortunate to get a draw against West Ham - their team does not seem right. I am a fan of Bernard, although he does not get through the 90 minutes with consistent class. He is like Joao Moutinho, he has a lovely balance to find the pass but does not do it often enough.

Anthony Gordon came on and played well on his debut, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored again. Carlo Ancelotti is not afraid to make changes, and showed an aggressive side to make those during the game. I am never overly convinced by Everton and for that reason I am going for a draw.
