Bradford have signed Adam Thompson on a season-long loan from League One rivals Bury, whom he joined on a three-year deal earlier this summer.

The 24-year-old defender joined the Shakers after helping Southend to the League One play-offs last season and has made three appearances before his move to the Bantams.

Thompson is currently on international duty with Northern Ireland, preparing for the World Cup qualifiers with San Marino and the Czech Republic.

Bradford boss Stuart McCall said: "He is a strong and committed centre half, and he has great experience at this level.

"We are delighted to have him on board. He was on our radar over the summer but the finances Bury were offering gave them the edge.

"It hasn't quite worked out for him at Bury in the opening couple of months, though, and it came out of the blue that he was available.

"He can't wait to get started with us."
