Premier League Power Rankings: Newcastle United's Fabian Schar top

Schar top, ahead of Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk and Manchester City's Sergio Aguero

Newcastle defender Fabian Schar has become the first Newcastle player to top the Power Rankings.

The Switzerland international has been in blistering form this year and broke the deadlock against Burnley on Tuesday with a goal-of-the-season contender, while team-mate Isaac Hayden (No 8) also maintained his ascent up the chart.

Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk climbed into runner-up spot after scoring a double during a 5-0 win over Watford on Wednesday, with Sadio Mane (No 5) also scoring twice and Andy Robertson (No 7) teeing two of the goals.

Arsenal duo Alexandre Lacazette (No 4) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (No 6) were among the top performers after the former doubled the Gunners' lead and the latter bagged two assists during a 5-2 win over Bournemouth.

Last week's table-topper Sergio Aguero slipped to No 3 this week - despite converting a penalty against West Ham, while Watford's Gerard Deulofeu (No 9) and Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha (No 10) also suffered minor slips.
