The Argentine's lead atop the chart was slashed after City missed the weekend's league action to face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final - beating the Blues 4-3 on penalties at Wembley.

Gerard Deulofeu secured runner-up spot after hitting a hat-trick during Watford's 5-1 win at Cardiff, with team-mate Troy Deeney (No 7) netting a double to complete the rout.

Wilfried Zaha (No 3) made it four goals in three league appearances with a double in a 4-1 win at Leicester - a result that prompted the Foxes' hierarchy to axe manager Claude Puel after just 16 months in charge.

Burnley striker Chris Wood (No 4) broke the deadlock with his fourth goal in as many games during a shock 2-1 victory against Tottenham - after his side were awarded a dubious corner that led to the goal.

Arsenal moved into fourth spot after Alexandre Lacazette (No 5) opened the scoring in a 2-0 win against Southampton, with Manchester United failing to leapfrog the Gunners following a goalless stalemate with Liverpool.
