Tottenham will not be making a renewed effort to sign Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes in January, Jose Mourinho confirmed last month.
"I would definitely say no because Bruno is a player of a level and value that is not for us," he said. "We are not a club that is going to make big transfers in the market, nor is it going towards players who are already developed or at a certain level of expectation, also economically. We are a different club at this level."
Mourinho also reiterated at Christmas that he is happy with the current squad, and says Spurs will be more reactive than proactive in the January window.
"I know that in our transfer market we are going just to react to things that can happen to us in the market. Like I was saying if some player leaves we need to adapt to it. But we are never going to be the kings of the market, attacking important targets, fighting with clubs that are ready by their profile and philosophy to splash the cash and to go to the important targets.
"We need to do our things in an intelligent way, a creative way, and I repeat I like the players that I have."
Quizzed on Eriksen's future during a press conference, Mourinho said: "About his future, I know his future. I think I know his future because his communication with me is completely open and honest and we trust each other.
"The only thing I can tell you is that I know his future, but I am not the one to speak about his future, it has to be him to speak about his future when he makes the decision to speak about it, not me.
"My feeling is that he wants to help us, which is why when I am in trouble and need a player with his qualities, I play him."
After 18 months of transfer inactivity, Tottenham broke their transfer record with the signing of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon for £65m. They also spent £8.5m on Jack Clarke, who they loaned back to Leeds for the season, while Ryan Sessegnon joined from Fulham for an undisclosed fee. Giovani Lo Celso also arrived on loan from Real Betis.
They had a big departure too, with Kieran Trippier leaving for Atletico Madrid for an undisclosed fee, while Fernando Llorente joined Napoli for free and Vincent Janssen move to CF Monterrey.

"Tottenham are looking for a left centre-back for January but only if one of their current players leaves first, with their current left-footed centre-half Jan Vertonghen entering the last six months of his contract. "Spurs are willing to spend a sizeable fee on one too - and Sky Sports News understands there is interest in Bournemouth's Nathan Ake and West Ham's Issa Diop.
"The club are also looking for a new right-back, having explored their options in this position during the summer. Napoli's Elseid Heysaj and Marseille's Hiroki Sakai were two players of interest to them then. Again, a decent budget of more than £20m will be available for this position.
"They are also understood to be on the hunt for a new versatile attacking player like Heung-Min Son, and they have been tracking the highly-rated Gremio forward Everton Soares. Jack Clarke has also returned from his loan at Leeds and will be assessed.
"In terms of outgoings, Christian Eriksen's future remains very uncertain along with Vertonghen, while Victor Wanyama could leave after coming close to doing so in August."
